Firemen Find Dead Woman
[Per Press Association Copyright.} CHRISTCHURCH,. This Day. . When firemen entered a house at 35 Rosewarne Street, Spreydon, at midnight, they found an elderly woman, Mrs Edith Ellen McLeod, dead in bed. The room was filled with smoke and when the door was burst, open the smouldering mattress burst into flames, but the fire was quickly suppressed. It is thought the woman, who was alone in the house, had fallen asleep while smoking in.bed and.was suffocated by the smoke of the smouldering mattress.
