Auckland F.U. Demands NonParty Government
[Special to “Northern Advocate”! AUCKLAND, This Day. A demand for a non-party Government in New Zealand was made in a remit carried at the annual conference of the Auckland Provincial Farmers’ Union today. The remit declared that, in view of the intention of the Government to take all-in powers for the effective prosecution of the war, a non-party government, representing all interests was essential, and that a War Cabinet without full executive powers would be neither acceptable nor effective. . “Only a non-party Government can have the whole-hearted support of all farmers.” said Mr A. Briscoe Moore," of Whangarei, in moving the remit. “If the Prime Minister does not form a non-party Government, he will be failing in his duty to this country,” said Mr A. Hatrick, of the Bay of I lands, who stated that he was a Labour supporter.
