Australian Engineers Offer To Work 12-Hour Shifts
SYDNEY, May 27. The Amalgamated Engineering Union has expressed its willingness to work 12-hour shifts to speed up the production of war materials. Recruiting in Sydney has averaged 900 a day since last Tuesday. The Minister for Air (Mr. J. V. Fairbairn) announced today that the Commonwealth Government is asking the British Government what is the best means by which Australia can quickly assist Britain with pilots and air staffs.
