Province’s Dairy Output Has Caught Up Leeway
“The Auckland Province has more than picked up the decreased output of dairy produce, and is now ahead of the 1937-38 year,” said Mr J. G. Barclay, M.P. “For the nine months, 1937-38 period, butter production was 92,896 tons; for the same period 1938-39, the production was 83,284 tons, and for the 1939-40 period, 91,346 tons. “In 1937-38, cheese production was 14,575 tons, and in 1938-39, 13,971 tons, and for 1939-40, 18,483 tons. “Thus the combined output figures of butter and cheese for the nine months in 1937-38 had been 107,471 tons, against 97,255 tons for 1938-39, and 109,828 tons for the 1939-40 period,” Mr Barclay concluded.
