The daily mail for Kaikohe will in future close at 5.30 p.m. instead of 1.30 p.m. OVERSEAS MAILS A mail for Australian States and countries via Australia will close at the Whangarei Post Office at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, May 28. Other overseas mails will be despatched as opportunity occurs. NEW POSTAL RATES FORLETTERS BY ORDINARY MEANSrJ? Mails for Kaeo, Kerikeri, Maugonui, Totara North and Waimate North will in future close at 5.30 p.m. instead of at 1.30 p.m., the Whangarei Post Office advises. Inland.— 2d first oz., Id each additional half ounce. British Countries, Egypt, Iraq.— 2d first half ounce; Id each additional half ounce. Foreign Countries (except Egypt and Iraq).— 3d first half ounce; Id each additions half ounce. BY AIR MAIL: Inland.— 3d each half ounce. ' CORRESPONDENCE FOR EXPEDITIONARY FORCE. The following postage rates have been fixed upon for correspondence addressed to New Zealand and all other soldiers, sailors and airmen of the British Empire on active service:— Letters.—By surface transport; The inland letter rate (2d for the first oz. and Id for each succeeding £ oz.) will apply. By air on Empire Air Service: 1/6 each \ oz. (no change). Newspapers.—The British Empire rate (£d for each 3 oz.) will apply. Parcels. —Parcels not more than 3 lb. in weight: 1/-. Parcels not more than 7 lb. in weight (maximum), 2/-. TRANSTASMAN AIR SERVICE. The closing time for mails at the Whangarei Post Office will be 2.15 p.m., Saturday, each week. Postage Rates: Australia (including air services in Australia): Letters, 5d each half oz; postcards, 3d Great Britain and Empire countries, also Egypt and Iraq: Letters, 1/6 each half oz; postcards, 9d.
