Try-getters for the winners were Cross, Martin and Graham, while D. Haigh kicked a penalty goal to secure Old Boys’ points. Hikurangi had the better of the game, while their forwards had a definite advantage over their opponents, In fact, the Hikurahgi forwards showed to better advantage than the backs, who hardly came up to their opponents’ rearguard,
In Graham, Hikurangi have a good, hard-Working forward, and he, with Warren Morpeth, of Old Boys, were outstanding. Ron Muir Was about the best back on the field. CENTRAL BEAT KAMO. Two tries and a penalty gave Central juniors the victory over Kamo by nine points to nil. Scorers for Central were McKinnon and Rice, who scored the tries, and McKay. j Lack of co-ordination by both teams marred the exhibition, although there Were sortie good individual movements. When Central secured the ball some effort was made but Kamo, with a plentiful supply, made futile movements, most of the back division having a roving tendency and playing well out of position. Central gave promise of better exhibitions in the future. Best players were McKinnon, Central winger, and Tapper, the same team’s full-back.
