Belgium Divided Into Army, Interior Zones
(Received 12.30 p.m.) BRUSSELS, May 12. A Royal decree divides Belgium into army and interior zones. The army zone includes the provinces of Limburg, Liege, Luxemburg and Namur, also several districts in Brabant. The remaining part of the country constitutes the interior zone. The decree roughly divides the country in half, with the army zone to the eastward. The Brussels radio appealed to owners to hand over cars to the city authorities for transporting refugees who are pouring in from Eastern Belgium. The Brussels radio broadcast the Allied National Anthems and soldiers’ songs all night, interspersed with reports of sighting German bombers, including a batch of 30, Another report said nine were flying over Malines to Louvain. The announcer at 7.30 a.m. said .10 Were over Brussels, after which the station shut down.
