Miss Gladys Joan Robertson has resigned her position on the nursing staff of the Whangarei District Hospital for health reasons.
The Governor-General (Viscount Galway) and Viscountess Galway arrived in Auckland on Saturday from. Rotorua, and are in residence at Gov*, ernment House.
The death occurred in Auckland yesterday morning of Mr Ebenezer Constable Turner, a director of Turners and Growers, Ltd., and one of the best-known men in the fruit and produce industry in New Zealand. Mr Turner, who was 53 years of age, underwent a serious operation on Tuesday.
At a meeting of the committee of the Old Boys’ Football Club, a motion of sympathy was passed with the family of the late Mr J. A. Finlayson. Mr Finlayson had always taken a keen interest in football and had supported the club in many ways, while his daughter had been the candidate supported by the club in the Queen Carnival held some years ago.
