“They Won’t Pass This Time”
(Received 11 a.m.) LONDON, May 10. The Belgium Ambassador in London, interviewed, said: “All I can say is that we have been invaded. “When we fight, we fight like blazes. “You can depend on that. “They will not pass this time. “We have been invaded savagely, although we offered no offence.” “We shall resist the Germans to the last drop of blood,” declared a Dutch radio, summoning Dutch territorials. An Amsterdam report says that a central market for duty has been announced. The Government is taking extraordinary measures to deal -with Nazi subversive elements. Three Nazi printing houses have been razed to the ground.
Accusation. —A New York message states that, in a broadcast, Goebbels accused Belgium and Holland of “conniving at a plot to start a revolution in Germany, and of hostile utterances against Germany in the Press, and by persons prominent in public life.”
