Galbraith - Whittle
At Christ Church, Whangarei, on April 20, the wedding of Myrtle Mary, eldest daughter of Mr and Mrs P. Whittle, Oekleigh, to Duncan Malcolm (Joe), sori of Mr and Mrs M. Galbraith. Takapuna, was solemnised by Archdeacon Steele. Mr Marsden Woods presided at the organ. The bride, who was given away by her father, wore a becoming gown of white silk, lace trimmed, with taffeta buttons and orange blossom, the frock falling in slim lines over taffeta. The beautiful embroidered tulle veil was held in place by a coronet of orange blossom. The bride carried a bouquet of white and cream cactus dahlias, chrysanthemums, and asparagus fern. The bride was attended by her sisters. Misses Alice and Annie Whittle. They were gowned alike in pink metalesse with delphinium satin sashes. Each wore a halo of blue and pink flowers, held in place by delphin velvet ribbon, and each carried a bouquet of pink and blue cactus dahlias and zinnias.
The bridegroom was attended by Mr Les Whisker as best man, and Mr Roy Price as groomsman. After the ceremony, a breakfast was held in the Balmoral Tearooms. Mrs Whittle, mother of the bride, received the guests wearing a saxe blue woollen frock with silver trimming, and hat to tone. She carried a bouquet of aut-umn-tinted dahlias. She was assisted by Mrs Galbraith, mother of the bridegroom, wearing a navy blue embroidered ensemble, with hat to tone, and carrying a bouquet of dark red dahlias. The happy couple left by car for a tour of the south, the bride travelling in a blue sports costume, with clover accessories to tone. Mr and Mrs Galbraith will make their future home at Takapuna.
