On Thursday the Y.W.C.A. Business Girls’ Lyceum Club continued their series on Hygiene and Health, with talks by Miss N. Northcroft and Mrs Budd on ‘What to do in an emergency in childbirth.” The talks were very interesting and greatly appreciated by all the club girls. Mrs Budd has agreed to give ' a further lecture and demonstration in “home nursing” at a later date. The weekly gym. class was held in the Y.W.C.A. Hall from 6.30 to 7.30, under the direction of Miss Blakey and Mrs McCracken. Mothers’ Club. • The Mothers’ Club held its fortnightly meeting On Thursday noon in the form of a Patriotic and Knitting Afternoon. While the members knitted socks fcr the soldiers. Miss Blakey spoke of the war work of the Y.W.C.A.; in Europe where it is in the' form of practical service nursing, and in countries like New Zealand, where it is seen in nursing divisions, emergency chests, and study circles aimed at understanding the present situation and in helping the girls and women of the world to maintain a sense of balance in time of war. Mrs Wiley, secretary of the club, gave a reading of a short stoi?y of interest and help to the club. j Citizen Meeting. j On Friday the weekly Citizen meeting was held, preceded by a camp meeting in preparation for the Citizen Camp to be held at Tnmaterau from Tuesday to Saturday. The officers are to be Miss Ailsa M. Blakey. Miss Jean Campbell, of Canada, Y.W.C.A. National Programme Secretary, and Miss Jean Mawson, of Auckland. The camp programme includes hikes, discussions, a picnic, camp fires, and a concert. The citizen community gathering is planned for May 31, while their concert and party will be late in June.
