France Leaps To Her Feet
(Received 2 p.m.) LONDON, May 10. M. Reynaud, French Prime Minister, in a broadcast today, said: “Our soldiers of liberty went across the frontier into Belgium. “Free men .and women throughout the world hold their breaths. “Will the bestial force conquer? “Tcday Hitler has thrown off his mask. His attack is obviously against France. Is an old account to be settled—,an account often mentioned in ‘Mein Kampf.’ “France, calm and strong, has leapt to her feet." “This is the hour we prepare for battle. “There are grave thoughts in all French homes at the hour when youth risks its life, but the common ideal, common wish and common determination prevail. “France is ready.” Registrations. —ln continuance of the past practice, no one in Britain will be called upon to register for military service until he has reached the age of 20, in spite of the fact that the proclamation covering the registration for military service of nine new age groups, 19 to 36 inclusive, for the first time covers men of 19.
