Dairy Stock Sell Well At Kamo
Walter Wakelin Ltd. reports having held his usual weekly sale of cattle and pigs at Kamo on Wednesday when good entries were submitted to a large attendance of buyers. A large entry of dairy stock met with a ready market as did a medium entry of beef and boners. In the pig section a line of 46 porkers on account of the Whangarei Piggeries realised £3 5/-. Medium baconers sold to £4 6/6. A good entry of weaners and slips all changed hands at keen prices. Quotations.—Light prime steers, £lO 5/-; prime Hereford heifers, £8 5/-; heavy fat cows, to £7 17/-; medium fat cows, £5 5/ to £6 2/6; light fat cows, £4 10/ to £5 5/; heavy boner cows, £3 5/ to £45/; medium boner cows, £2 10/ to £3 6/; boner bulls, £5 to £77/; Jersey heifer calves (medium) £2; Shorthorn M.S. calves, £1 4/ to £1 11/. Dairy Cattle. —Cows close to calving, £6 to £9; spring calving Jersey cows, £4 to £6 10/; cows in milk, £3 to £6; good quality in calf Jersey heifers, £5/10/- to £7; small, in-calf heifers, £3/10/- to £5; S.H. heifers, r.w.b., £2 10 to £3 10/. Pigs. Medium baconers, £4 to £4 6/9; light baconers, £3 8/ to £3 16/; heavy porkers, £3 to £3 15/; medium porkers, £2/10/- to £2/16/-; light porkers, £1 15/ to £26/; stores, £1 to £1 16/; slips, 16/- to £1 8/; weaners, 6/- to 16/-; choppers, to £4 1/; boars, £2 10/ to £3 15/.
