Eire’s “Poor Man’s Budget”
LONDON, May 9. The Eire Minister for Finance (Mr C. Sean O’Kelly), in introducing his “poor man’s Budget’’ in the Dail, Dublin, estimated the revenue at £32,968,000 and expenditure at £35,584,000. He recommended an increase in the surtax on incomes exceeding £20,000. and an increase of half a crown in wireless licence fees.
The Budget reduces the cost of cheap tobacco by Id an ounce.
