“Dead Hand From Above”
(Received 12.30 p.m)
LONDON, May 9. Importance is attached to the speech of Lieut.-Commander R. T. Bower (Conservative, Yorkshire) in the House of Commons debate on Norway, because he is a serving member of the Naval Staff. He said that when the Germans failed at Narvik, it was time for a thunderstroke which might have retrieved tire whole situation and turned the tables.
“Our ships were ready to take action, but a dead hand from above descended and stopped them.’'
“Wild horses would not drag from me whose hand it was. “All I say is that it came from above.”
