Scouts And Gymnasium
The efforts of the Rev. Cole, new Anglican minister at Hikurangf, to establish a Boy Scouts-’ troop and boys’ gymnasium have the blessing of the Hikurangi Town Board. Mr Cole wrote to. the board in an endeavour to obtain a suitable hall for the conduct of the two activities.
Already, it was stated, a strong Scout troop had been organised, and it was expected there would be good support for a boys’ gymnasium. The board instructed that a letter be sent to the local Physical Welfare and Recreation Club, asking that it co-operate with Mr Cole, and possibly make the old courthouse available for the activities mentioned. Some time ago, it was revealed, the club had received permission to use the courthouse at Hikurangi for a gymnasium.
