Three Months For Theft From Car

Three months’ hard labour was the sentence imposed on a Maori, William John White, 24, in the Kaikohe Court recently when he was charged with theft from a motor car parked in Kaikohe. Constable J. Frain stated that White was an old offender. He had stolen an overcoat from a parked car on April 20 and worn it at the dance held in the town on Friday night. The owner of the coat had noticed it at the dance and notified the police. “There has been a lot of this type of offence in the town lately,” the constable stated.
