Easy On Coal Appeal To Germans
(Received 2 p.m.) LONDON, April 29. “The Times” Rotterdam correspondent says the Reich .coal commissioner (Paul Walter) has appealed to householders, theatres and restaurants to cease heating. He urged the importance oßrestricting the consumption on the home front, in order to relieve the transport system and also enable Germany to fulfill her contracts to supply Italy with 12.000,000 tons annually. The authorities are doing their utmost to combat the inevitable shortage next winter. Petrol Shortage. The British United Press Berlin correspondent says the petrol shortage continues to drive cars from the streets throughout Germany. As a result of the latest restriction, 25 per cent, of the remaining cars, including taxis, are laid up in many cities. Only 1000 taxis remain in Berlin.
