“Here I Am A Stranger”

For years Brenda Joyce has been nursing a pet idea about cosmetics, but until 20th Century-Fox production chief Darryl F. Zanuck catapulted her to screen fame recently, she never could do anything about it. When Bud Westmore, of the famous cosmetic House of Westmore, was called in by Clay Campbell, studio makeup chief, to confer on the problem of Brenda's screen make-up, Brenda found her golden opportunity. She sprang the idea, and did it so convincingly that the House of Westmore has decided to exploit it commercially. The idea? A simple one —flavoured lipsticks. Samples were made up by Bud Westmore for Brenda and other 20tn Century-Fox players for them to try out. So successful was the experiment that the new lipsticks will soon be on the general market. They will cover a wide range of flavours, from the popular peppermint and chocolate through fruit flavours. Brenda’s second film (the first was the celebrated picturisation of Louis Bromfield's “The Rains Came”) is a gripping off-the-beaten-track drama. “Here I Am a Stranger.” Richard Greene is starred in the film, with Richard Dix and Brenda featured at the top of a cast including Roland Young. Gladys George and others.

Lynne Overman, who plays the amazing, amusing “Oliver Quade.” encyclopedic amateur sleuth, for the first time on the screen in Paramount's nev/ mystery-comedy. “Death of a Champion," went to work as a jockey when he was 12 years old. After adding too much weight to hold the job, he joined a troupe of travelling minstrels, wound up in Seattle, broke. He tried entertaining miners with a sterecptican machine, and eventually made his way to success in films.
