THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL (VISCOUNT GALWAY) YESTERDAY RECEIVED THE FOLLOWING MESSAGE FROM THE KING IN CONNECTION WITH ANZAC DAY “The Queen and I are proud to join with our people in New Zealand in observance of Anzac Day. “ Once again the peoples of the Empire have received the call to take up arms in defence of justice and freedom, and all who have answered it may find a noble inspiration in the deeds of those whom we commemorate today.”
Lord Galway’s Reply
His Excellency, sent the following reply: “Your Majesties l gracious message has been communicated to the Government and people of New Zealand, who appreciate most deeply the knowledge that the thought of Your Majesty .and the Queen are With them on this day of commemoration of their glorious dead. “They desire to take this opportunity of reaffirming their unswerving allegiance to Your Majesty and the Throne and their determination to
play their part in the defence of the Empire and the preservation of justice and freedom.”
