Boys’ Brigade Formed
With a membership of 19 a Boys’ Brigade has been formed by the Hikurangi Presbyterian Church. Classes including ambulance work, physical »drill, boxing and signalling have been held. Mr J. Orr is captain and the Rev. D. R. Allen chaplain. Dr. Armstrong is to instruct in ambulance work should the Whangarei branch of the St. John Ambulance be unable to do so. A Girls’ Brigade is also to be formed next week-end under the leadership of Miss Phyn. Sunk. Three river cargo vessels, one of which was loaded with wheat and the others with oil, all bound for Germany, were sunk in the Danube after explosions, according to a report from Bucharest.
