Provincial Athletic Championships
Several Whangarei competitors took part in the Auckland provincial amateur athletic championships, held in driving rain on sodden Carlaw Park on Saturady. The only new record was established in the shot putting event. The feature of the meeting was the capture of four doubles—W. Mansill in the sprints, R. B. Joyes in the hurdles, C. Calvert in the jumps, and G. Havvkesbury in the walks. Some excellent performances were given by country representatives, the outstanding exhibitions being those of W. J. Potter, of Matamata. who extended S. J. Wade, the local champion, •'o make a close finish in the mile event, and won the three-mile run handsomely. Championships resulted: Cne mile walk: G.
