Seriously Injured; Car Suspected
[Special to “Northern Advocate ”! AUCKLAND, This Day. Mr Leslie Evan Thomas, aged 34, of National Park, a member of the Forestry Company, stationed at the Papakura Camp, was found lying unconscious on the side of the Great South Road between Papatoetoe and Wiri shortly after 10.30 a.m. yesterday. ’ He was suffering from severe head injuries, and was taken to hospital. His condition last night was very serious. Within a short distance of the spot where Mr Thomas was found, pieces of glass, probably from the headlamp of a motor car. were strewn on the roadway. It is thought that Mr Thomas was walking on the edge of the road and was struck by a vehicle.
