£l2o Collected In Street Appeal.
With 30 women assisting in the big task of collecting funds yesterday, the Whangari Women’s Patriotic organisation raised £l2O towards the purchase of gifts for soldiers serving in the military forces. A feature of the day was the magnificent manner in which people gave, said the president of the Women’s Patriotic organisation (Miss A. Cookson). They were perfectly cheerful about making contributions to the cause and, from the point of view of the ladies assisting, the collection was one of the happiest efforts of its kind ever held herd.
