Jockey’s Death Mourned
SYDNEY, February 12. The death of W. Lappin cast a gloom over the Sydney racing world. Nearly 20,000 people, including almost every Sydney jockey and racingidentity, filed past the bier in the Darlinghurst church yesterday afternoon and evening. Leading racing men have paid the highest tribute to Lappin’s ability and character, and l’egarded him as the best apprentice rider in Australia. Lappin, who commenced riding in January, 1930, rode 160 winners.
