Kaikohe Farewells Returned Soldier
KAIKOHE, This Day. Mr G. E. S. Brodie, a prominent returned soldier in the Kaikohc district, who is shortly to leave the north, has been fare welled by two Digger bodies. On Friday evening a large number of Diggers, representing the R.S.A., gathered in the Masonic hall to bid Mr Brodie the best, and to express their appreciation of the fine work done by him as an official of the R.S.A. and kindred associations for returned men and other worthy causes. Earlier in the week, when the Kaikohe Medical Board met to examine and pass recruits, the staff gathered and wished Mr Brodie farewell. Mr Brodie, who is shortly to take up a position in the Army Office at Auckland, thanked those present at both gatherings for their best wishes, and expressed sorrow at having to leave the district in which he had lived for some years.
