Oruru-Peria The Oruru-Peria Women’s Institute held a dance instead of the annual picnic in the Oruru hall on January 29. Even though the weather was inclement, a large crowd was in attendance. Extras were played by Miss Mavis Wrathall and Mrs Stan Harris. Mr Tom Downs sang several popular items. The Monte Carlo waltz was won by Miss Betty Wrathall and Mr Colin Forsyth. After supper the president (Mrs Barriball) asked the secretary (Mrs Walmsley) to light the candles, and Miss Eva Maddox blew them out. Mrs R. Maddox carried out the duties of M.C.
