Errol Flynn Rescues Cowboy
Frank Kurzi, foreman of a cattle station near Sonora, California, owes his life to the heroism of Errol Flynn, the cinema star. Kurzi recently suffered a broken left leg and two fractured ribs, but he could thank the daring and the quick thinking of Flynn for the fact that, his injuries were no more serious. Kurzi and forty other cowboys from the Modesto-Sonora area were working in scenes depicting a cattle stampede for the Warner Bros. Technicolour production, “Dodge City.” The scenes were being filmed on the flat lands between Modesto and Sonora. With Flynn, Alan Hale, “Big Boy” Williams and other male stars of the picture riding beside him, Kurzi got in front of the thundering herd of 2000 steers, pretending to try to halt the stampede. Kurzi’s horse tripped 'and fell, throwing him. The ranch foreman was knocked unconscious when his horse rolled over him. ■ With the herd of cattle less than one hundred feet distant, Flynn dropped from his saddle, threw the unconscious cowman across his horse and galloped cut 9f danger.
