Leading Apprentice Suspended for Month
r Per Press Association. Copyright.l NEW PLYMOUTH, This Day. For interference by Gold Dale with Amigo and Footloose in thp Flying Handicap at the Egmont races, a leading apprentice, V. Dye, rider of Gold Dale, has been suspended for one month. Bye sprang into prominence at the recent Taranaki holiday meetings with eight winning mounts and many placing's in four days’ racing. Scotties. —An offer to the Government to raise a Scottish battalion for overseas service was made, today by Mr; J. G. MacKenzie, on behalf of the New Zealand Scottish Territorial Association, and the Wellington Association of Scots Societies.
