54 Casualties on Minesweeper Sphinx
(Received 11.30 a.m.) RUGBY, February 9. The Secretary to the Admiralty (Mr G. H. Shakespeare) regrets to announce the following casualties from H. Minesweeper Sphinx, which was damaged by enemy air attacks last Saturday and was reported to have capsized while being towed to port on Monday. One officer killed and four missing, believed dead, three ratings killed, one died of injuries, and 45 missing, presumed dead.
