Butt —McKinley
At the Presbyterian Church, Whangarei, on January 27, the marriage took place of Miss Joyceiynne Mavis McKinley, eldest daughter of Mrs and the late Mr Charles McKinley, of Kara, and Mr William Arthur Butt, eldest son of Mr and Mrs Butt, Whangarei. The Rev. Allen, of Hikurangi, officiated. The bride, who was given away by her uncle, Mr Robert McKinley, looked charming in a fitted gown of white satin. Her veil was held in place by a coronet of orange blossom, and she carried a bouquet of gladioli and tuber roses. The bridesmaids were Miss Lilian McKinley, Miss Jennie McKinley (sisters of the bride), Miss Jean McKinley (cousin of the bride) and Miss June Saunders. They were dressed alike in picture frocks of deep cerise taffeta, with bouffant skirts and puffed sleeves. Their headdresses and mittens were of net in a paler shade of cerise. Two little flower girls were Beryl Edmonds and Marlene Dent. Their ankle-length frocks were replicas of those worn by the bridesmaids, but were a shade paler. They wore headdresses of flower buds and carried baskets of flowers. The bridegroom was supported by Mr G. Stansell as best man, and Messrs Alec McKinley, Jack Mudgcway and Jack Brock acted as groomsmen. After the ceremony a reception was held in the Balmoral Tea Rooms, and in the evening a dance was held in the Kara hall. Mrs McKinley received her guests wearing a gown of navy georgette and lace. She was assisted by her sister, Mrs Frost, of Ohakune, who wore a frock of deep petunia taffeta. Mrs Butt, mother of the bridegroom, wore a dark navy ensemble with accessories to tone.
