New York Sympathisers Invade World’s Fair
NEW YORK, February 7. Irish Republica Army sympathisers invaded the closed World’s Fair grounds, hoisted at half-mast the Eireann Flag and laid a wreath at the Irish pavilion in sympathy for the men executed at Birmingham. Hie "Daily Telegraph’s” correspondent at the Vatican City says it is understood the Pope’s intervention was sought on behalf of the condemned men, but His Holiness refused, on the ground that they had had a fair trial, while the crime could not be justified even by the excuse of patriotic motive.
