Land-Clearing By Modern Machinery

The Minister for Labour (Mr. Webb) and the Minister for Lands (Mr. Langstone) yesterday made an inspection of work done under the Public Works Department’s land clearing scheme in the Buller district, where approximately 400 acres of land have been fully developed fit. for cultivation. The Ministers were impressed with the results of the scheme by the use of modern land-clearing machinery. Special interest was taken in a power-driven disc, believed to be the only one of its kind in the world, which was planned by Mr. B. Halley, local engineer of the Public Works Department,
