Shift Dispute At Kamo Collieries
Argument over a cavil, relating to working positions, developed during the afternoon shift at the Kamo Collieries yesterday, and a stop-work meeting was held. Commencing at 3.30 p.m., the meeting continued until shortly after 7 p.m., delegates being appointed to meet the management. Subsequently, delegates and management met and reached agreement on the points in dispute. The agreement, however, has not satisfied some of the men, and another meeting has been called for this afternoon.
Old workings of the mine, which caught fire about two months ago, and were sealed and flooded, were opened on Monday, and found to be completely free from fire, and the pumping out of the water has been commenced. In the meantime the miners have been working in the newly-developed field.
