We wish from our hearts to thank your numerous reader's and the general public for the magnificent re-
sponse made to the THE LEPER appeal for the lepers APPEAL. at Makogai. Altogether we received the splen T did sum of £4574 in cash and about 100 cases of useful goods. Owing to the unsettled times in which we are living we have advised Dr. C. J. Austin, the Medical Superintendent, to conserve and lay aside some money for future years. There are now 635 patients on the island, and the result of our appeal will enable all the patients, particularly the bedridden ones to receive little delicacies and gifts on'numerous occasions during the year. . In July last we formed an incorporated trust board of 15 gentlemen to continue these appeals for sufferinghumanity, and we wish to express our personal appreciation of the confidence that has been placed in our board. s
In conclusion, we express the wish that all who helped the appeal in any way whatsoever may share in the joy of the patients at Christmas time.—T. FLETCHER TELFORD, M.D., F. R. CLIMIE, J.P., P. J. TWOMEY, Trustees, Makogai Lepers (N.Z.) Trust Board.
