Maori Youth Faces Eight Charges
RAWENE, This Day,
Three young Maoris faced 12 charges relating to the breaking and entering of the Mitimiti Post Office Store, when they appeared at Rawene Court, The cases were heard by Mesrs A. A., Potter and R. Railley, J’sP., and Constable ~F. H. McNutt, of Kohukohu, conducted the proceedings. - , John Tahana, 17J-, of Mitimiti, faced eight, charges of breaking and entering the store between the dates of August 25 and October 6. He pleaded guilty to the charges and was committed to the Supreme Court for sentence. .... Tarei Hotere, 18, also of Mitirriiti, was charged with entering the store * with intent to commit a crime, and was committed to the Supreme Court for sentence. On a charge of receiving stolen property on October 4, to which he pleaded guilty, Hotere was committed to 14 days’ hard labour. Nehe Netana, 23, of Te Hua Hua, was charged with breaking and entering the store on September 28, and he was committed to the Supreme Court for sentence. He was also sentenced to 14 days’ 'hard labour on a charge of receiving stolen property on October 4. / i
