Whangarei-Services In Poor Scoring Game
Whangarei seniors opened badly against Combined Services cn No. 1 ground at the Reclamation Reserve, but secured 125 before all were out. Services, however, were soon fighting against a rot and at stumps , six wickets were down for 59.
Whangarei opened poorly, Izzard being caught in the slips with the total at seven. Wilson joined Jennings and the score mounted steadily until at 39 Wilson returned one to the bowler. Here.
With the advent of Jenyns the scoring rate quickened. The newcomer opening up freely to score 1C in six
hits, the last a six, and commenced to rapidly overhaul Jennings, who had scored 27 at that stage mostly in singles. . Another brace and a single ended Jenyn’s short life, as he skied one which Hore accepted, with the total at 68.
Jennings did not stay much longer, being caught by White off Hore for a patient 36. None of the others stayed for long and the innings closed at 5 o’clock for .125.
Services could not have started much more badly. Batten had scored one when he ran out Williams, who had not had a chance to break his duck. Three runs later Menzies was caught for three and then Batten was run out for four, three wickets being down for 11.
Arneil joined Here and they carried the total to 44 when Horc was caught oft Wilson tor 14.
' Arneil batted steadily, and placing his shots nicely, had compiled 32 when he was beaten by Jenyns 55-5-32.
Colthier was caught and bowled for four and stumps were drawn.
