N.A. Farmers' Co-op Review Northland Sales

The North Auckland Farmers’ Coop., Ltd., report holding the following sales during last week. Owing to the recent continued rains all classes of stock, with the exception of springers, have become firmer.

At Kamo on Monday we held a horse fair and although the yarding was small, competition, was quite keen for good sorts. Top price was £39 for a nice 7-year-old brown mare sold by Mr A. R. Saunders and purchased by McLeod Bros., Hikurangi. Other prices ‘ were as follows; Heavy draughts, £33 to £39; medium draughts, £22 10/- to £3l; light draughts,. £lB to £2l. Spring cart horses, £l4 to £l6 10/-; light harness horses and good hacks, £9 to £l4; hacks and ponies, £3 10/- to £l2. Weeds .and aged horses, £1 10/- to £4.

Plpiwai, Tuesday, we had a heavy yarding of all classes of stock and competition was again keen. Prices were as follows: Light fat cows. £5 2/6 to £5 15/-; dairy cows, £6 to £6 15/-; others. £4 15/- to £5 12/6; good dairy heifers, £4 15/- to £6 2/6; twoyear steers, £3 15/- to £4 2/6; yearling steers, £2 10/- to £3 1/-; yearling Jersey heifers, £2 10/ to £3; yearling Shorthorn heifers, 37/6 to £2 12/6; two-year Shorthorn heifers, £2 15/- to £3 5/-; cows and calves, £2 15/- to £4 5/-; boner cows, 35/- to £3 2/-; boner bulls, £4 10/- to £6 15/-; service bulls, £4 15/- to £7.

Kamo, Thursday, we had a very good yarding and dairy cattle were hard to sell but store cattle showed a marked increase on recent sales. Dairy cows sold from £5 15/- to £7 2/6; dairy heifers, £4 17/6 to £6 5/-; light fat bullocks, £lO 12/6; light fat cows, £5 4/- to £6; fresh conditioned cows, £3 15/- to £4 5/-; store cows, £3 5/- to £3 17/-; boner cows, £2 2/to £3 4/-; boner bulls, £4 15/- to £6; small service bulls, £3 10/- to £4 5/-; yearling Jersey heifers, £3 2/-; three and four-year Shorthorn steers, £7 to £7 17/-; smaller, £6 10/- to £6 17/6; two-year steers, £3 10/- to £4 17/6; yearling Shorthorn steers, £2 17/- to £3 4/-; two-year Hereford steers, £4 17/6; two-year Red Poll Shorthorn crossbred heifers. £4 4/-.

Wellsford, Friday, we yarded slightly more than the advertised number of cattle. Competition was very keen and we had a complete clearance. Some of the four and five-year Shorthorn cattle were a litle rough in quality but the younger cattle were good quality. Prices were as follows: Fat cows, £6 10/- to £7 17/0 (no fat ox yarded); fresh conditioned cows, £4 10/- to £5 2/6; good boners, £2 15/to £3 12/-; boner bulls, £7 to £9 2/6; light bulls, £4 15/- to £6 5/-; fouryear Shorthorn steers, £7 10/- to £8 4/-; three-year Hereford steers, £7 4/to £7 10/-; three-year Shorthorn steers, £6 10/- to £7 4/-; two-year Hereford steers, £4 17/6 to £5 12/6; two-year Shorthorn steers, £3 17/6 to £4 10/-; yearling Shorthorn steers, £2 10/- to £3 4/-.
