Hospital Opening Ceremony To-morrow
With the rapid growth of the Whangarei district, it has been necessary for the Whangarei Hospital Board to continually make additions to its institution. * Considerable reconstruction and improvement work, as well as the erection of a large new ward, has been carried out by the board recently and tomorrow afternoon the opening ceremony will take place. The total cost of the additions and alterations was £32,000, the installation of machinery and other work absorbing- a further £6OOO. The board anticipates that interest in the reconstruction and improvement work will be taken by the public and it is hoped a large crowd will accept the invitation to attend the opening ceremony which will take place at 2,30 p.m. Speakers At Ceremony,
The vice-president of the Hospital Boards’ Association and chairman of the Auckland Hospital Board (Mr A. J. Moody) will perform the ceremony. Other speakers will include the chairman of the Whangarei Hospital Board (Mr J. A. S. Mac Kay) and the Mayor (Mr W. Jones).
Mr J. G. Barclay, M.P. for Marsden. has apologised for his inability to attend. owing to his absence in the south. • A service will also bo conducted by Archdeacon Steele. A memorial tablet to Mr H. J. Neville, who bequeathed £I6OO to the board will be unveiled during the ceremony.
