Topical “Clouds Over Europe s '' At Regent
At a time when warplanes of Europe are playing such an important part in the prosecution of war a film like “Clouds Over Europe” brings home realities to those far removed from the battlefront. This film deals with the operations of enemy agents in Britain and their successful attempts in securing latest aviation developments.
' A number of secret test planes disappear and, against the views of his chiefs. Ralph Richardson, a secret service agent, and Laurence Olivier, a pilot, believe accidents are not the cause.
Working together with Valerie Hobson, a newspaper reporter, they prove their theory to bring an exciting story to a close.
Fine aviation scenes rival exposure of enemy methods in an exciting film which delighted a large audience at the Regent Theatre last evening when it opened a season which will extend to Tuesday evening. A brilliant performance is given by Ralph Richardson. On the surface a casual, carefree, Englishman whose antics and speeches cause continuous laughter, but really a shrewd investigator, his characterisation is outstanding.
