Amy Plane Drops Flares On U.S. ’Drome
NEW YORK, November 28,
A message from Lakehurst, New Jersey, says a mystery aeroplane flew over the naval aerodrome there last night, dropping a dozen flares.
Three of the flares caused a minor forest fire near the reservation. The machine vanished when attendants illuminated the flying field, which houses a dozen observation balloons and the dirigible Los Angeles, winch is out of commission. It was later revealed that the flares were dropped by one of six army bombers carrying out an unannounced “military manoeuvre.”
