Kaitaia Church Bazaar Nets Over £6O
A remarkably fine effort, resulting in a sum of over £6O being netted, was made by the Ladies’ Guild of the Anglican Church on Friday, when a bazaar was held in the Parish Hall for the purpose of raising funds for the church. The guild, of which Mrs Harold Timbers is president, must have organised the bazaar along very sound lines. A generous spirit was shown by members of the church and well-wishers. There was a plenitude of gifts for the stalls, and buyers were so plentiful that before the afternoon was far advanced little remained on some of the stalls. This applied especially to the sweets stall. A luncheon was put on, and majjy of the town and country people availed themselves of the excellent table the ladies provided. The following had charge of the stalls; Fancy, Miss Holder and Mrs Bedggood; sweets, Mrs John Archibald, Mrs J. B. Reynolds and Miss Reynolds; cakes, Mrs Taaffe, senr., and Mrs A. Matthews; produce, Mrs Marsh and Mrs Allen; ice cream, Miss Bannister; afternoon tea and luncheon, ladies of the guild.
In the evening, when an enjoyable dance was held, what remained on the stalls was sold,
