New Arbitration Court Judge Speculations
ISpecial to “Northern Advocate ”l AUCKLAND, Tin's Day.
An announcement by lbs Minister for Labour (Mr Webb) concerning the judge chosen to replace Mr Justice O’Regan as President of the Arbitration Court, is awaited with interest in industrial circles in Auckland.
It is anticipated that a decision will bo made in the near future.
An appointment has been made
necessary by a decision to establish a separate court t ; o handle
compensation cases and also to assist with industrial matters when
free to do so
Mr Justice O'Regan has been asked to preside over the new court, and speculation is growing as to who his successor will probably be. Three Suggestions. Already the names of three members of the legal profession in Wellington. Christchurch and Auckland have been mentioned as being “in the running' for the position.” It is now suggested that there is a distinct possibility of. Mr J. A. Gilmour, S.M., being elevated to the judgment, which will become vacant when Mr Justice O’Kegan .Vs called upon to concentrate largely on workers’ compensation cases.
