Canada To Build Aircraft Salvage Boats
OTTAWA, November 27
Construction will begin shortly of eight aircraft salvage motor boats to cost 15,000 dollars each. Five of these will operate in the Pacific and three in the Atlantic.
Designs are being considered for eight bigger and similar boats and also 30 steel anti-submarine whale catcher types, costing 400.000 dollars, of which 20 will be used by Canada and 10 by Britain. There is a possibility later that the construction of ocean-going freighters and even warships may be undertaken.
