Wellington Move To Reject Bureaucratic Rule

A largely attended meeting was held in the concert chamber of the Town Hall last night in order that expression might be given and possibly some lead to remove the doubt, apprehension and fears which, speakers said, were pervading the community concerning New Zealand's economic situation, the socialistic trend of legislation and its effect on the people. A representative committee of 70 employers and employees has held numerous meetings in recent weeks concerning the general trend ot events.

It was decided to convey their views to a wider section of the community, with the result that last night's meeting was organised. Those present represented all sections of the community. A statement issued after the meeting said the aims and ideas of the movement were given by the chairman as follows:

To bo the voice of the people in rejecting- a bureaucratic government that infringes the freedom of the individuals and violates the principles of Christian and British democracy.

To support any government whose loyalty to its party will he subordinated to its loyalty and service to the people. To resist those forces that would make the individual subservient to the State.

Tho following resolution, moved by a member of the audience, received enthusiastic endorsement from those present: “That this meeting, having heard the chairman give an outline of this movement of the people, fully endorses its aims and ideals, and pledges wholehearted support, and resolves to work unceasingly to obtain the desired result of a unified New Zealand.’’
