Temporary Food Rationing In Britain
LONDON, September 4,
I Mr Walter Elliot, Minister of Health, moving the second reading of the National Registration Bill, in the House of Commons, said it would facilitate such measures as the redistribution of food and supplies. Mr Elliot forecast a temporary scheme of rationing, pending larger and more detailed arrangements. Mr Oliver Stanley, President of the Board of Trade, moving the second reading of the Trading with the Enemy Bill, said it provided that a person need not necessarily be regarded as an enemy because ho was an enemy subject.
German, Austrian and Czech refugees in Britain did not become enemies merely of their nationality.
