Whangaroa Queen Carnival Nets £705

Whangaroa County, by far the smallest in Northland, raised £705 7/4 for Centennial purposes.

This was netted by a queen carnival which ended last week.

Miss Audrey Bramley, o£ Omaunu, the Country Queen, with 51,0G0 votes (£425 10/-) was successful, the Town candidate, Miss Doreen Hughes, polling 33,566 (£279 17/4).

Dancing and games were enjoyed at the well-attended final function held at Kaeo.

The two committees and many willing workers were thanked by Mr T. H. Hayes, chairman of the Centennial Committee.

Kernham; baby’s knitted set, Mrs F, Maddox; clock, Mrs L. Johansen; sandbag throwing, Mrs Faithfull (ladies), Mr D. Heta (men); child’s suit, Mr A. Solomon; cushion, Mr H. Leslie; sheep, Mr C. Ratclifl'e; cake, S. Rudolph; apron, Mrs J. Bramley; candle-lighting, Miss M. Bramley, Mr C. Bramley; pig. Mr T. Leslie; naiidriving, Mrs J. Bramley and Mr K. Anderson; lucky number apron, Mrs J.
