Motorists Fined For Various Offences
Producing a duplicate of a warrant of fitness issued to Vernon Lilley, who was charged in the Whangarei Magistrate’s Court yesterday with not having a certificate, Mr L. J. H. Wright said his client had not been able to find the original. Failing to carry the warrant was only a technical breach, said Mr G. N Morris, S.M., in convicting and discharging Lilley. On a similar charge, Milan Slako was fined £1 with 12/- costs. For not having drivers’ licenses, Alan Herbert Cates, Ellen Mullins and David Ernest Teed were each fined £1 with costs. Charged with having no tail-light, Catherine Lucy Gundry, of Kohukohu, was convicted and ordered to pay 107costs. A collision between a motor car and a calf on the Whangarei-Kaikohe road resulted in Kenneth Patira, quarryman, of Poroti, being charged with permitting three yearling calves to be at. large in a public place. Patira was fined 10/- with 12/- costs.
