Card Party. Weekly card parlies have been continuing in Ararua since the conclusion of the Otamalea Queen Carnival. Winners at the last evening were Mrs W. Christensen, after a tie with Miss J. Smith and Miss D. Smith. Gentlemen's first prize was won by Mr L. S, Fauchelle with 15 games. Consolation prizes were won by Mrs L. S. F.auchelle and Mr A. Leaf. At the previous evening, first prize for the ladies was won by Miss B. Varnam with 11 games and gent’s first prize went to Mr A. Garmson with 12'. games. Consolation prizes wore won by Mrs F. Smith and Mr M. Leaf ikisketball. Throe local schools met at basketball on Saturday. Paparoa, Ararua and Matakohc. Results of the games were; Ararua School 8 goals, beat Paparoa 6; Matakohe School 13. beat Paparoa School 8; Matakohe School 18. beat Ararua School 14. Farewell Afternoon.

A farewell afternoon war given in the Avarua Hall on Tuesday afternoon by ilie local ladies in honour of Mrs A. C. heal:, who is shortly to leave Ararua to lake up residence at Birkenhead. An enjoyable afternoon was spent at cards and games and. competitions. On behalf of the local people, Mrs T. Varnam presented Mrs Leaf with a crystal vase and a crystal salad bowl, with a set of servers. On behalf of the local basketball team. Mrs G. Sterling made a presentation of a silver cake tray. Mrs Leaf suitably replied and regretted that she would be parting from her many friends in Ararua.
