Jespersen - Gunson

A pretty wedding was celebrated at the Presbyterian Church, Whangarci, on June 28. when Clarice May, eldest daughter of Mr and Mrs G. Gunson, formerly of Rotorua and now of Maungakaramea, was married to Abater, eldest son of Mr and Mrs Jesperson, of Rotorua. The Rev. Elliott officiated. The bride, who entered the church on the arm of her father, made a pretty picture gowned in a dainty frock of ivory satin beaute. The bodice was trimmed with rows of niching and tiny satin buttons from the neckline to the hem. A spray of orange blossom finished the neckline. Her beautifully embroidered tulle veil was caught to the head with a coronet of orange blossom. She carried a shower bouquet of white chrysanthemums, azaleas and asparagus fern. Tire bride’s sister, Evelyn, and Miss Thelma Gunson, cousin of the bride, acted as bridesmaids. They were frockcd alike in pale green embossed faille and the bodices were trimmed with liny satin buttons, while the prettily shaped necklines were held with two pearl clips. They wore bandeaux of pale green flowers trimmed with silver leaves, and carried shower bouquets of pink luculia, chrysanthemums and asparagus fern. ■ Hilda Gunson, sister of the bride, and Elva Hudson, cousin of the bride, as flower girls, were frocked alike in cameo pink embossed faille with short puffed sleeves and skirts fully gathered into small yokes. They were finished off with pale green velvet sashes and small bows and buttons. They also wore bandeaux of pale pink rosebuds in their hair and carried posies of pink rosebuds tied with silver ribbons.

The bridegroom was supported by his brother, Mr Frank Jespersen, of Rotorua, as best man, and Mr James Gunson, cousin of the bride, as gi’oomsman.

Mrs G. Gunson, mother of the bride, was attired in a black tailored costume with a smart London tan peach bloom felt hat and accessories and her bouquet was of scarlet gerberas. Mrs Jespersen chose a navy tailored costume and navy hat. Her bouquet was of violets.

The beautiful bouquets were the work of Mrs S. W. Crawford.

The reception was held in the Marble Bar, the Rev. Elliott acting as toastmaster.

Mr and Mrs Jespersen later left by car for the south. The bride’s travelling attire was a navy tailored costume with hat, shoes and gloves to match. They will make their future home in Rotorua.
